The American Red Cross is a part of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement along with more than 170 Red Cross and Red Crescent national societies around the world. The mission of the Movement is to relieve human suffering wherever it may be found; protect life and health; ensure respect for the human being, particularly in times of armed conflict and natural disaster; help prevent disease; promote health and social welfare; and encourage voluntary service. The Arlington Red Cross
focuses on two areas:
serving those in
foreign countries and serving Arlington’s
culturally diverse population. Arlington County is one of the most culturally diverse counties in the country. Thousands of people have special needs that Red Cross can fulfill.
