Welcome to March Maniacs, the newsletter for the Arlington County Red Cross Annual Basketball Tournament.  This newsletter will go out monthly and keep you updated on the planning for the 2010 March Mania Basketball Tournament.

Thanks to all the teams who played in the 2009 March Mania Tournament - March 7th & 8th. The results were;   Competitive Division: Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority #1 defeating Diamond Transportation - 59 to 47

Recreation Division: American Legion Post #85 defeating Burke & Herbert Bank and Trust - 39 to 33

$9,000 Raised for Arlington Red Cross 

Thanks so much to all the teams, players, businesses and volunteers for helping the Arlington Red Cross raise $9,000 to be used to provide relief to victims of disaster and help our community prevent, prepare for and respond to emergencies. With these funds we are able to respond to house fires, educate numerous people on everything from CPR to Child Care, and get emergency messages from families to their loved ones on duty in the military. The Red Cross also provides nearly half of the nation's blood supply.With your help we are able to continue to provide these services on a 24/7 basis.Thank you!.

Best Legs Contest
In conjunction with the March 2009 tournament, players and fans entered the " Best Legs Contest." Pictures were posted on voting bags without names and $1 votes were collected during the two day event. Mary Lou D'Alessandris of Falls Church won the contest. She was awarded 50% of the votes in her bag. She promptly donated it back to the Arlington Red Cross.

Mary Lou plays on the NOVA United Senior Women's Basketball Association team. These ladies offer exhibition games during the March Mania tournament and also volunteer their time as scorekeepers and timers.
