March Maniacs is distributed electronically to keep you informed about the Annual March Mania Red Cross Basketball Tournament. We hope you enjoy receiving this newsletter and will forward it to other people that you think may be interested in marketing their company at our tournament, playing on a team, or coming to the event to cheer on the team of their choice. It's a fun, family-friendly event with lots going on both on the courts and in the children's activity area and silent auction. Mark your calendars for March 6 & 7, 2010, and we'll see you at the Thomas Jefferson Community Center here in Arlington.
Margaret McKeough, COO, Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority , says, "This tournament really generates great morale for our employees."

Scoreboard
Although it might seem like the 2010 March Maniacs event is far, far away, now is the best time to start recruiting! We are aiming for 24 teams this year, so please mention this special tournament to all your basketball loving friends, relatives, neighbors, co-workers, strangers, etc...we need your help to spread the word. We will have competitive and recreational divisions for the March 6 and 7 tournament. The more teams the more exciting the tournament. When interested parties ask for more information, please refer them to Jeff Conn at 703.863.5919 or Julia Wright at 703.527.3010 (extension 737). Let's get Maniacal !!"
All funds raised from the March Mania Tournament are used to respond to natural disasters, house fires, to educate citizens on everything from CPR to child care, and to get emergency messages to loved ones on military duty. The Red Cross also provides nearly half of the nation's blood supply.

Training Health Tip

Drink water - There are varying recommendations about how much water athletes should drink daily. No single formula exists that calculates everyone's water needs. Individual water needs depends on many factors which include how active you are, your health and where you live.
Every system in your body depends on water. When exercising, make certain that you drink plenty of water! Dehydration is the lack of water in your body, which can lead to a condition where your body cannot carry out normal functions. Even mild dehydration can drain your energy and make you tired.
As a general guide, if you drink enough fluid so that you rarely feel thirsty and produce 6 cups or more of colorless or slightly yellow urine per day, your fluid intake is probably adequate.
