Disaster Committee Meeting Our next Disaster Committee Meeting will be held on Tuesday, May 13th at 7:00 pm at the Arlington Chapter. All Disaster Services volunteers are welcome and encouraged to attend. This month we’ll be our first combined meeting with our colleagues from Alexandria!! The Animal Welfare League of Arlington will also be present to talk with us about Pet Sheltering. Hope to see you there!

Club Red Upcoming Events
(Club Red is a volunteer group for young professionals in their 20s and 30s)
- Wine Tasting: Join Club Red and Curious Grape for an evening of wine tasting and exploration! This event will take place at Courtland Towers (1200 N Veitch St) at 8:00 pm on Thursday, May 8. Cost of attendance is $25 for Club Red members and $35 for non-members. RSVP to Heather Pritchett at hpritchett@arlingtonredcross.org or 703-527-3010 x735. It is recommended that you call ahead to pay and reserve your ticket. Tickets will be sold at the door, based on remaining availability.
- Blood Drive: Club Red is hosting its own blood drive at the Arlington County Chapter on Saturday, May 31st from 9 am to 3 pm. To sign up for a donation appointment online, go HERE.
- Alexandria Waterfront Festival: Club Red will be helping out as beer pourers during the evening on Saturday, June 14th. Mark your calendars now. More info will be coming soon!

Prize Patrol Congratulations to our National Volunteer Week Prize Patrol winners: Beatrice Nguyen, Sean Garney, and George Saunders! They correctly answered the trivia question “Who is the honorary Chairman of the American Red Cross?” The correct answer is the President of the United States, currently George W. Bush. Congratulations to Beatrice, Sean, and George!
Medical Loan Closet Many residents of Arlington County rely on our medical loan closet for walkers, wheelchairs, and bedside commodes. Please take a moment to look in your attics and basements for any such items that are not in use and are just collecting dust. Rolling walkers are in NEED!! Volunteer Needs:
Neighborhood Day Parade Walkers Arlington’s annual Neighborhood Day Parade is taking place on Saturday, May 10th. The Arlington County Chapter is scheduled to participate in the parade, and we are looking for volunteers to walk in the parade alongside a Red Cross vehicle and hand out goodies to onlookers. The parade route is approximately one mile and the parade begins promptly at 1:00 pm. We need approximately 25 walkers. Blood Drive Assistants Blood Drive Assistants staff the registration and refreshment desks at local blood drives. This is a great opportunity for those with daytime, weekday availability. Shifts typically last 4-6 hours and scheduling is flexible. There is a one-hour required training. Drivers (Regular and Substitute) Responsible for transporting clients to medical appointments or grocery shopping within Arlington County. Must have basic knowledge of Arlington County and/or the ability to use maps and written directions. Volunteers must possess a valid driver's license, have a safe DMV record and be comfortable driving mini-vans. Other training as required will be provided. Drivers will work closely with the Transportation Scheduler and other volunteers on a regular basis. Positions available for regular route drivers or those who just wish to volunteer on an as-needed basis. HOURS/AVAILABILITY: Minimum (1) 4 hour shift per week – Monday thru Thursday. Interested?
