Bush.  Congratulations to Beatrice, Sean, and George!

Medical Loan Closet  Many residents of Arlington County rely on our medical loan closet for walkers, wheelchairs, and bedside commodes.  Please take a moment to look in your attics and basements for any such items that are not in use and are just collecting dust. Rolling walkers are in NEED!!  To those of you who have brought in donations, we thank you so much. Call Lynn Brown at 703-527-3010 x738 to make a donation.

Volunteer Needs:

Neighborhood Day Parade Walkers  Arlington’s annual Neighborhood Day Parade is taking place on Saturday, May 10th.  The Arlington County Chapter is scheduled to participate in the parade, and we are looking for volunteers to walk in the parade alongside a Red Cross vehicle and hand out goodies to onlookers.  The parade route is approximately one mile and the parade begins promptly at 1:00 pm.  We need approximately 25 walkers.  Contact Heather Pritchett at hpritchett@arlingtonredcross.org or 703-527-3010 x735 if interested.

Blood Drive Assistants  Blood Drive Assistants staff the registration and refreshment desks at local blood drives.  This is a great opportunity for those with daytime, weekday availability.  Shifts typically last 4-6 hours and scheduling is flexible.  There is a one-hour required training.  If interested, please contact Heather Pritchett at hpritchett@arlingtonredcross.org or 703-527-3010 x735.

Drivers (Regular and Substitute)  Responsible for transporting clients to medical appointments or grocery shopping within Arlington County.  Must have basic knowledge of Arlington County and/or the ability to use maps and written directions.  Volunteers must possess a valid driver's license, have a safe DMV record and be comfortable driving mini-vans.  Other training as required will be provided.  Drivers will work closely with the Transportation Scheduler and other volunteers on a regular basis.  Positions available for regular route drivers or those who just wish to volunteer on an as-needed basis.  HOURS/AVAILABILITY: Minimum (1) 4 hour shift per week – Monday thru Thursday.  Interested?  Contact Rochelle Brown at rbrown@arlingtonredcross.org or 703-527-3010 x734.
